The Grand Lady

What I did

I worked closely with the team at The Grand Lady, an event venue situated beyond Austin, Texas, to restructure their website and elevate its overall aesthetic.

  • Led the visual design process end-to-end, from early discovery and mood exploration to site architecture, interaction details, and final execution
  • Partnered directly with the client to understand their brand, audience, and aesthetic
  • Designed a cohesive visual system spanning layout, typography, imagery and beyond
  • Iterated collaboratively through feedback to arrive at a refined, intentional final design
  • Extended The Grand Lady's digital presence beyond static documentation into a meaningful, polished experience that supports real customer decision-making

Grand Lady Project Overview

Auditing the Existing Experience

I worked side by side with the client to audit the existing Grand Lady website, identifying gaps in clarity, hierarchy, and visual cohesion. Experiencing the site together helped surface emotional reactions and unspoken preferences that shaped the direction of the redesign. These insights ensured that design decisions were grounded not only in usability, but in the feeling the experience was meant to evoke.

Shaping the Site Architecture

Redesigned the site architecture in close collaboration with the client, using a color-coded system to distinguish new pages from existing content. This approach created shared clarity around scope, priorities, and effort, helping align expectations and guide the redesign timeline.

Setting the Visual Tone

Aligned on tone and visual direction early by creating three mood boards that explored different interpretations of The Grand Lady's aesthetic. I curated existing photography into clear stylistic categories and paired familiar imagery with a branded visual language, helping the client visualize the potential of their brand and feel confident in a direction that felt tangible.

Creating Space for Collaboration

Used Figma to create an open, collaborative space for feedback, allowing the client to share thoughts in context and see changes evolve in real time. This helped build trust, reduce back-and-forth, and keep the project moving forward with clarity.
